Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!
STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Skaters who have mastered figure skating skills in STARSkate may also choose to pursue synchronized skating or pairs skating.
When you/your child registers for a STARSkate program at your local Skate Canada club, you also become a member of Skate Canada and will have access to:
STAR 1-5 PROGRAM (Junior StarSkate)
At Loyalist Skating Club, we continue to offer Skate Canada's new STAR 1-5 programming for the 2018-2019 season. This new program, developed by Skate Canada with the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model in mind, is based on progressing skaters at their own rate through coach directed assessments and group based learning and skill development. For our skaters working at the STAR 1-2 level, Loyalist Skating Club will be offering a total package for one fee including ice time and group coaching. Group lessons will take place on Mondays and Thursdays with the opportunity to purchase an additional Friday session for private lessons.
Skaters working on STAR 3-5 will participate in group lesson based Fundamentals sessions for edges, turns , transitions and field movements, which is included in their package fee.
